The Sr. Finance Manager is responsible for influencing business decisions by providing financial transparency through forecasting, planning, strategic planning, measurement, business case development, capital management and internal controls.    The Sr. Finance Manager manages end-to-end Strategic Planning, Annual Planning and Forecasting processes and activities, in addition to managing monthly and quarterly actual reporting.
 
Overall
  • Act as a Finance Business Partner working with Officers/Senior Leadership in the identification and execution of strategic approaches towards financial processes and methodologies (e.g., planning, reporting), as well as proactive financial results management and communications
  • Analyze long-term impact of new or anticipated strategies and decisions and consider ramifications to the business
  • Supervise junior team members to ensure team efficiency and effectiveness
  • Act as a point of contact for segmental deliverables and ad-hoc requests
  • Provide support for management presentations
  • Enhance and maintain management reporting standards
  • Set up and perform control processes to ensure tight financial controls and proper mitigations are in place
  • Lead and assist various department and company projects
Forecast and Planning
  • Get full and deep understanding of our business, processes, systems and products
  • For each forecast and plan, discuss with segment leaders to obtain key assumptions, including changes and initiatives as well as their impacts
  • Update models and assumptions to be in line with business trend and strategies
  • Submit forecasting on a timely basis
  • Analyze and provide commentary on variances and trends
  • Put together forecasting analysis package
  • Work with actuarial department, segment leaders and management to conduct annual field comp deferral study
  • Responsible for other day-to-day planning and forecasting activities
Actual reporting
  • Review actual results, explain variances compared to forecast and plan, and provide analytical opinions to the management
  • Conduct and analyze deferral calculations and amortization quarterly
  • Analyze results and provide accrual input
  • Generate actual analytics and reporting package monthly and quarterly
  • Respond to auditors’ requests

  • Outstanding communication skills

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or a related field
  • 7+ years of FP&A experience in Insurance – including planning & forecasting, monthly MI production
