JOB DESCRIPTION:
Coordinates, prepares and performs actuarial tasks of a mathematical and quantitative nature in support of product pricing, experience analysis, reserving, modelling or rate filings.   Compiles, categorizes and interprets data, documents factors and data sources used in computations. Determines appropriate Actuarial assumptions. Calculates premiums or reserves for new or existing products. May perform research, experience studies or other statistical analyses. May sign Actuarial Memorandums or Opinions. Prepares appropriate governance documentation. Interprets regulations impacting the business.  Monitors product experience and recommends appropriate corrective action. Understands complex actuarial concepts, techniques and procedures.  Has an in depth understanding of company operations, systems and actuarial methodologies. Uses and programs necessary software (e.g. MSOffice, SQL, GGY Axis) based on the task.  Represents Actuarial points of view on corporate projects.  Has frequent contact with other areas of the company.  Builds solid working relationships throughout the company.   Communicates in writing or via phone with Departments of Insurance, auditors, actuarial consultants, legal representatives or industry trade associations.  May supervise one or more individuals.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Bachelors Degree preferably in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Statistics

·        Obtained an Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) and MAAA designation

·        5 or more years of experience with supplemental accident and health products

·        Data centric; uses technology to enable solutions

·        Demonstrated experience with asset share models, experience analysis, product development and pricing

·        Understands and applies complex actuarial principles to evaluate insurance risk and business impacts

·        Ability to work independently and lead Actuarial work efforts

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to explain complex issues or results in a logical manner

·        Ability to identify, prioritize and manage the tasks necessary to meet department and corporate goals

·        Ability to coach and develop less experienced staff

·        Supplemental benefit products for captive agent or worksite/voluntary channels

·        ASA, MAAA required

 

EDUCATION: 

Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or other related degrees
